Exporting from Record Manager

Three parts to this guide

First part shows you how to send your entire inventory of books for sale to be entered into the Used Book Central database.

Second part shows you how to send us records of books which you want to add to, or delete from, your Used Book Central listing.

Third part instructions below are substantially applicable to BOOKMASTERIII, except that you will not find the files you need to send us in the Interloc database but in one entitled BM3 or Bookmaster.

Your First Upload to Used Book Central

  1. First upload will comprise all "for sale" records (and all wants, if you have any) in your inventory.
  2. To prepare a file of them:
Go to Record Manager's Main Menu
    Then to Inventory
Then to Hit List Then to "Include all Records"
    Escape to "Main Menu".
  3. Continue by going to On-Line
  4. Then go to Upload Records
  5. At Upload Records
  6. Go to Begin Upload
  7. Click on Inventory
  8. Click on Hit List
  9. Click on Modem
  10. Click on Continue At "Ready to begin upload"
  11. Click on "Exit"

You have now created a file with all the records of books you have for sale.

This file is found in your C drive, Interloc folder, Database folder and, at the end of the folder, you will find a file entitled "upload_1.msg". This is the file which you need to send to us.

If using BookmasterIII, you will find this file - also called upload_1.msg - in your hard drive's BM3 folder, not in an Interloc folder.

You are now ready to send your file to Used Book Central.
We offer a variety of methods - each one is very simple to use - for sending us your files, and you should choose the one which suits you best.

Sending Additions and Deletions
Whenever you send a new file (of additions and/or deletions) to Interloc, you will want to make the same changes to your Used Book Central listings. This can be done very simply by sending us the file which you have just sent to Interloc. This file is to be found in your C drive, Interloc folder, Database folder and, at the end of the folder, you will find a file entitled "upload_1.msg". This is the file which you need to send to us. (See the previous paragraph for details about how to send your file.)

The next step: Sending your listings to Used Book Central

Once you have successfully formatted your listing in Record Manager, you can now upload them to Used Book Central. The method you use to send your listing depends on the Web browser you use and your familiarity with FTP (File Transfer Protocol).
