Exporting a file from Homebase

For HomeBase v1

  1. At Command Center click EXPORT
  2. Highlight file to send, click SELECT
  3. At "File Format" use pulldown menu to select UIEE FORMAT
  4. Click CREATE
  5. Name your file and select the folder in which to put it (make a note of this information) and then click SAVE
  6. Once you have followed these instructions, you'll find your file by following this path:
    C:\HBVII\Export\db(today's date)


The file for Used Book Central will have an .msg suffix and an envelope icon, while the file for ABE will have a .txt suffix and a clipboard icon.

Your file has been created and placed in the folder you designated.
Go to your Used Book Central page and start the import procedure indicated there.
Use the "Browse" button to find the HomeBase file you've just created Double-click on that file
Follow the few remaining steps indicated on the control page.

For HomeBase v2.0 or v2.0.1

  1. Click on FILE
  2. Choose IMPORT/EXPORT...
  3. On the drop-down menu, choose EXPORT... (Note: Do not use the Export/Send to ABE format)
  4. Under "Books,"
    Choose ALL BOOKS,
    Turn off CHANGED SINCE if you wish to upload your entire inventory
    Click OK
  5. In the "Export Books as" window
  6. Click on the SAVE AS TYPE pulldown menu
  7. Choose UIEE FORMAT
  8. Click SAVE
  9. Find your file by following this path:
    C:\programfiles\HB2\Export\db(today's date)

The next step: Send your listings to Used Book Central
Once you have successfully formatted your listing in HomeBase, you can now upload them to Used Book Central. The method you use to send your listing depends on the Web browser you use and your familiarity with FTP (File Transfer Protocol).
