Exporting from Bookmate

Bookmate is structured in such a way that your file is automatically deleted once you send it to Interloc; also, the export file itself cannot be used because it does not contain the symbols which indicate whether a book or a "want" is to be added or deleted.

Here is the procedure for creating a Bookmate file and sending it to Used Book Central. If you are having problems please contact us

Follow these steps

  1. Open your Web browser (Netscape or IE) and log into your Dealer Maintenance page
  2. Minimize the web page and run Bookmate
  3. Prepare the book records you want to include in the file you will send to us
  4. On the "Send" menu select "Send Records to Interloc"
  5. Check the "Preview Before Sending" box
  6. Select either "Include all Records" or "Queued Records"
  7. Press the "Begin" button
  8. A message "Preview Before Sending" will appear. Leave the message up there, as your file has just been created. If you close the window, your file will be changed.
  9. Click on the Netscape or Internet Explorer box on the task bar at the bottom of your screen to open the web browser
  10. Select Send files (adds and Deletes) via your Used Book Central upload page.
  11. Click Browse, then select on the File Upload screen either "all files" (or type in *.prv to show only the Bookmate files)
  12. At the top of your File Upload screen scroll through your hard drive to locate the file you want to send to Used Book Central. It should be on the C drive, in the Interloc folder (if you have Bookmaster 3 it may be in a BM3 folder), and then in the Database folder. The file is usually called books.prv - it may be called something else, but it will always have the .prv suffix.
  13. Now double-click on this file
  14. You will now return to the your Used Book Central Upload screen
  15. At Step 2 make sure "Add Book Listings" is selected regardless of what kind(s) of records your file contains. Press "Send to Used Book Central"
  16. After the upload is finished and the information about the first 10 records appears on your screen, switch back to Bookmate by clicking on the taskbar icon at the bottom of the screen;
  17. Continue to send your records to Interloc, or cancel out of Bookmate, as you prefer.

The next step: Sending your listings to Used Book Central
